Ornamental Grasses & What You Need to Know
Because they bring texture, movement, and color to landscapes, ornamental grasses are wonderful additions. What you need know about them is as follows:
1.Fountain grass (Pennisetum): Distinguished by fluffy flower heads and an arching, fountain-like form.
2.Panicum switchgrass: Variable in size and hue, from reddish-purple to blue-green.
Compact grass with blue-gray foliage, blue fescue (Festuca) is frequently used as a border plant or in rock gardens.
Growing Environment Although ornamental grasses are generally versatile and low-maintenance, they do best in the following environments:
1.Sunlight: While some kinds can withstand little shade, most need full sun.
2.Soil: They need well-drained soil because they don’t like to sit in wet environments.
3.Watering: Many ornamental grasses can withstand droughts once they become established, but they need frequent irrigation to stay healthy.
4.Hardiness: Select grasses that are appropriate for your climate as different types have varying hardiness zones.
